La Chaya

We went to lunch here today before hitting the airport and it was fantastic. My inlaws suggested it and all the food is organic, as local as possible, and made from scratch (down to the jam and bread and even some of the building is reclaimed wood from local grain mills!). I would love to go back for dinner sometime. If you're ever at Nicollet near 45th in Minneapolis, check it out.

Fish tacos

Austin's lunch.

Lobster tacos

Cilantro Cream Soup

Molletes

My lunch- refried beans and cheese on bread with pico de gallo.

Troubleshooting

You may have noticed the blog has been down for awhile; this was an error on Google's side so there was nothing Austin (or Conner) could do to fix it.

Sunday Brunch

My parents decided to celebrate my birthday a week early since I won't be here on the actual day. They gave me a beautiful necklace from a local art gallery and then we went to brunch at my mom's absolute favorite place, a joint out of town on a lake. There was a buffet and an omelet station where I got a really good veggie omelet made to order.

After that, we headed to the grocery store and this always blows Austin's mind because we bump into at least one person that knows our family. This time it was the high school Spanish teacher (she was not mine when I was there but I knew her) and we started chatting en espaƱol about my grad program. We also saw the typing teacher (keyboarding now?) and home ec teacher (family and consumer ed?).

Now we're home and it's snowing a tiny bit. Football is one and we're all lazing around. So relaxing.

Test post from phone

Enjoying a beautiful December day.

Hollidaze

It's been a little while. Between my sister and brother-in-law visiting, writing what seemed like endless final papers, and grading, there wasn't much time to blog. As soon as I was free, I was spending my time baking like crazy. My friends and I decided to do an interstate treat exchange, each of us "bringing" another friend so I had five boxes of goodies to prepare and ship. They went out today.

Xmas Baking

We head out bright and early tomorrow morning and with my magic new iPhone, I'm hoping to keep up the blog with random photos and tidbits along the way. It's hard to think about leaving when it's 60 degrees with sunny, blue skies here today but it will be great to see the fam and friends again.

Quick Update

I haven't had any time to blog because I have been writing paper after paper for finals and really, who wants to hear about that? Normally each class has about one final paper and I have three classes but ended up writing six papers. This is to say nothing about all the grading I have to do for the two classes I teach...

My sister and brother-in-law arrived on Thursday evening so we've been enjoying some time with them. I managed to catch a cold right before they go here so my energy level has been a little low but they're all about hanging out at our place, just relaxing in front of the fire, so that works out well. Pizza and wine tonight!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Xmas

Our neighbor, Al, started singing that song while he biked past our house and saw us stringing lights into a tree. Here's what it looks like by night, with a bonus picture of Stinky, of course, very dramatically lit.
