Sant Jordi

I've posted before about one of my favorite adopted holiday, La diada de Sant Jordi or Saint George's day. Last year we forgot about it due to my dissertation proposal defense. This year, I bought my rose and Austin gave me The Story of English in 100 Words for my Kindle (sitting under the rose in its fantastic green case). Traditionally, the man gives the woman the rose and the woman buys the man a book but we're all about breaking gender barriers around here. The rose is on the ledge by the kitchen sink looking out into our living room (bonus points if you can spot one of Austin's many flashlight placements in the background). I just can't help but love a holiday joining two of my favorite things, books and flowers, and someday, I hope to be in Barcelona on April 23.

Resurfacing

There has been so much going on lately but I've had dissertation tunnel vision. While writing, spring sprung, roses exploded, and grass greened. I'm currently in between deadlines but still have a good deal of work ahead of me. Right now, in the mid-90s and we're planning on grilling dinner soon. Everything is a bit of a blur but I look forward to relatively calmer times. Thanks for still checking in. I've got exciting things to report in good time.

Kitteh

Dear Reader(s): Lest you think there would be no more cat pics, here you go. Besides sleeping and eating, Stinky really enjoys grooming.

I submitted a large portion of writing the other day so I had time to chill with Sir Stinkles and post a quick update. Quick because, of course, more writing/revising awaits.

From the front lines

I'm still doing battle with the diss.
